Welcome to Younger Journey!

a Warm Welcome from Tom Miner

Hello and Welcome!

12/2/09, I have just learned that it might be possible to join with The Woods at Cedar Run, Memory Care Unit in Camp Hill in a volunteer supportive function. If that dream becomes offical I will take my lead from Linda Stone who is the Memory Care Program Coordinator there. Some changes will need to be made to this site like the meeting place but much of it will remain untouched.

1/25/10, After speaking with Linda on the phone this morning, we will be starting to have meetings soon!

This site is being designed in an effort to provide support for the almost 600 people in the Harrisburg vicinity that could, statistically be living with Early On-Set Alzheimer's disease. People from all around the world are welcome to join in electronically but it is understood if they can't come to the monthly meetings. Please visit the "reference Material" and draw down the PA government contact info to see our visit to Congressman Tim Holden's office.

Please enter our Guest Book Forum located in the top, left module on this page, pick a forum and leave a short note if you want..

You can become a member of this group without having your name published. We will keep your name hush-hush and refer you you as member "A" or another alphabet letter if you prefer.

Just call Tom at 717-737-9682.

Please join in, cost is free,   register with the site, ask questions, tell us the story of your journey, let someone provide mortal support or help support others. We were all new once and we all have good and bad days. Nothing can be said that is wrong but non-supportive dialog will not be supported. Being quite and just listening is all right also! I find myself much more able to express myself on the computer than in person. I try to be social though because I know that socializing is better for me. It is just that the computer has a backspace key to correct my mistakes! But what the heck! If we can stick together and keep an upbeat attitude, it might be possible to improve our lives and to help us feel worthwhile!

Attitude is about the only this we have control of anymore. Lets try to keep it upbeat and positive as possible. We will make lemonaide out the lemons we have been dealt!

Facilitators for the group will be Tom Miner and Steve Hopkins. We will do our best to provide support for the group. Tom has EOAD and Steve has a family history of Alzheimer's.

We are associated with the Greater PA Alzheimer's Association.  http://www.alz.org/pa/

Monthly meetings will soon be forming. Members are not required to attend meetings but are always welcome! The meeting dates and times are open to the membership needs. The location can be changed if suggested but we have already found a comfortable and cost effective location at the Giant Community Center at 3301 Trindle Rd. in Camp Hill

Thank You Steve for all of your technical and financial help with  this site.
